Fisherman's Wharf , the old port area of San Francisco , is a pretty touristy place that still retains some authenticity .
Going back to the past
In 1853 this area was built in the first port of San Francisco , quickly became an important maritime center fresh fish distribution until, in 1950 with the advent of modern technology , the Bay area went into decline . Many of the fishing industry in the area went bankrupt or had to relocate.
What to see in Fisherman's Wharf?
Fisherman's Wharf is an area where you can enjoy many activities , you can visit the old Bay Aquarium , know the intricacies of the submarine USS Butterfish , enter the history of World War II walking the decks and cabins of the ship SS Jeremiah O ` Brien , back to the past with Musée Mécanique games or take the boat for a cruise around the bay.
Pier 39
Pier 39 is the best known of Fisherman's Wharf since it is one of the biggest attractions for visitors , dozens of sea lions frolic and bask while issuing their special groans are heard from a great distance .
The spring 39 also find a lot of shops and restaurants on two floors .
If you go to eat around the area and I like to fish, it is best to do so in one of the stalls that prepare crab cocktails and fresh fish for everyone.
A nice area for walking
Visit Fisherman's Wharf is not only essential , but is mandatory as it is one of the liveliest and most exciting areas of San Francisco . You have to visit the area without haste , walking and enjoying every corner.
